The creative process behind Scene in London art prints.

I love the creative process involved in creating my art prints.

I start out with researching the area, particularly if I don’t know it well, and I
like to ask locals via social media to share their favourite spots, landmarks, and notable
parts of a neighbourhood. This is always a fun exercise because sometimes locals– even
those who have lived in the area for years or even decades – will discover somewhere or
something new.

I’ll then visit the place in person, taking photographs or drawing “live”. I’ll collect a large
selection of reference photos and start putting them together, then draw the elements of
the print. I do a mix of digital and traditional painting, and I love using this mixed-media format. I try to collect at least 8-10 landmarks per neighbourhood to create my neighbourhood collages.

Sometimes I get requests to create something more custom. For example, adding
someone’s favourite pub, or the restaurant they had a first date at. I love working on
these more bespoke commissions.
