Creating a resource for Croydon schools with Stanley Arts

I was invited by Stanley Arts to create illustrations of Croydon landmarks for a wonderful project called 'Building Croydon.'

The project is a community programme offered to local schools to teach children about Croydon's architecture and its history. The resource is funded by Historic England and provides a timeline of how Croydon borough has developed, and explores the unique characteristics of each building. With Croydon's skyline changing at a rapid pace, this is a great resource to look back at the architectural styles of the past and evaluate material choices and design features and compare these with the present day.

I drew 10 buildings in total, including Croydon Minster (built 15th Century) and Enclave Croydon (2023) and with centuries between them, it's fascinating to learn about their architectural differences and their history.

The 'Building Croydon' resource is aimed at KS2 students and is available here.
"We loved working with Scene In London to commission a series of illustrations of historic buildings in Croydon to use in our learning and engagement workshops. The illustrations have been really useful during our schools workshops to help students identify the key buildings from our borough and incorporate them into their personalised Maps of Croydon." Moa, Learning and Engagement Manager, Stanley Arts.
